The European Commission has submitted to member states a new draft of sanctions against Russia, including an oil embargo. Some member states that rely heavily on Russian energy sought exemptions.
Western media reported that the European Commission draft of the sixth round of sanctions against Russia includes within six to eight months gradually banning oil imports from Russia, but allowing Hungary and Slovakia to extend the transition period for several months; The Russian Savings bank and other large financial institutions on the sanctions list.
The European Union has imported 44 billion euros of fossil fuels from Russia since Russia launched its special military operation against Ukraine in late February, according to Finland's Energy and Clean Air Research Center.
The Institute for European and Global Economics in Brussels estimates that the European Union currently consumes about $450 million worth of Russian oil a day.
Among EU members, landlocked Hungary and Slovakia, which import most of their oil from Russia, cannot quickly find alternative supplies. Slovakia says the transition will take years. Some officials believe Bulgaria and the Czech Republic may also seek to opt out of oil sanctions against Russia.
Affected by the ever-changing international situation, the supply and prices of international bulk Mg3N2 powder are still very uncertain.
What is Magnesium Nitride?
Magnesium nitride, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Mg3N2. It belongs to the cubic crystal system. At room temperature, pure magnesium nitride is a yellow-green powder, but magnesium nitride containing a portion of magnesium oxide impurities is grayish white.
The molar mass of magnesium nitride is 100.95g/mol. Its density is 2.712g/cm3. Magnesium nitride is completely dissolved in acid and water, but partially dissolved in ether and ethanol.
The melting point of magnesium nitride is 1500 degrees. Magnesium nitride, like many metal nitrides, reacts with water to produce ammonia. Often used as a catalyst. React with acid or aqueous nonmetallic oxides to form ammonium salts and magnesium salts.
Magnesium nitride is ceramic in nature. Magnesium nitride has high corrosion resistance and greatly improves production efficiency. Magnesium nitride also has high thermal conductivity, as well as high corrosion resistance and temperature resistance. Magnesium nitride has another great importance because it is used as a catalyst for the synthesis of boron nitrogen.
What is Magnesium Nitride Used For?
Used as a catalyst when prepare the nitride of other elements with high hardness, high thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, wear resistance and high temperature resistance. In the first successful synthesis of cubic boron nitride, the catalyst was magnesium nitride.
Used for high strength steel smelting additives. Magnesium nitride (Mg3N2) replaces desulphurized magnesium in construction steel smelting, which is beneficial to improve the density, strength, tension and bearing force of steel. In addition, the use of magnesium nitride (Mg3N2) desulfurization, can reduce the amount of other additives, thus helping to reduce the production cost of construction steel;
3. Used to prepare special ceramic materials;
4. For the manufacture of special alloy foaming agent;
5. For manufacturing special glass;
6. For catalytic polymer crosslinking;
7. For the recycling of nuclear waste;
How to Produce Magnesium Nitride?
At present, the main preparation methods of magnesium nitride include direct reaction method of magnesium powder with nitrogen, reaction method of magnesium with nitrogen in nitrogen plasma flow, magnesium coil explosion method in nitrogen atmosphere, low pressure chemical gas complementary product method, self-propagating high temperature synthesis method, nano magnesium nitride synthesis method, etc.
Recently, G. Soto et al. prepared amorphous magnesium nitride films with different Mg∶N ratios on Si substrates in a molecular nitrogen environment by pulse laser deposition. These methods limit their industrial production due to high cost, long process, complex equipment operation, or low yield of magnesium nitride.
Although the direct reaction of magnesium powder with nitrogen has industrial value, the production of magnesium nitride powder needs higher reaction temperature and longer reaction time, and the shape of particles is incomplete and easy to agglomerate, which can not meet the requirements of industrial quality. NH3 can be decomposed into N- with broken bonds more easily than N2, and the decomposed H2 can inhibit the formation of MgO, so ammonia gas can be used as the nitrogen source. Chen Faqin et al. used liquid ammonia as nitrogen source to prepare magnesium nitride powder by direct nitriding of magnesium powder. The following conclusions could be drawn: Through thermodynamic analysis, liquid ammonia could react with magnesium powder more easily than nitrogen to prepare magnesium nitride; High quality magnesium nitride powder with high purity and uniform powder particles can be prepared at 600℃ and ammonia atmosphere for 1h, then heated to 800℃, ammonia flow rate of 500ml/min and nitriding time of 1h.
