In order to determine whether the disassembled bearing can be reused, it is necessary to check after the bearing is cleaned, and carefully check the condition of raceway surface, rolling surface, mating surface, wear of cage, increase of bearing clearance and whether there is any damage or abnormality about the decrease of dimension accuracy. For non separated ball bearings, support the inner ring horizontally with one hand and rotate the outer ring to confirm whether it is smooth.
Tapered roller bearings can be divided into separate bearings, which can be checked respectively for the raceway surface of rolling body and outer ring.
Large bearing can not be rotated by hand. Pay attention to the appearance of rolling body, raceway, cage and edge guard surface. The higher the importance of bearings, the more careful inspection is required.
The judgment of whether it can be reused is determined by considering the damage degree, mechanical performance, importance, operation conditions and the next overhaul period of deep groove ball bearing. However, if the following defects are found, they cannot be used again, and new bearings must be replaced:
(a) There is crack or notch on any one of inner ring, outer ring, rolling body and cage;
(b) There is fracture on any one of the ferrule and rolling body;
(c) There are significant scratches on the raceway surface, edge guard and rolling body;
(d) The holder is worn significantly, or the rivets are obviously loose;
(e) There are rust and injury on the raceway surface and rolling body;
(f) There are serious indentation and marks on the raceway surface and rolling body;
(g) The inner diameter surface or outer diameter surface of inner ring has obvious creep;
(h) The discoloration caused by heat is obvious;
(i) The bearing, sealing ring or dust cover sealed with grease is damaged obviously.
The internal factors mainly refer to the three factors that determine the bearing quality, such as structural design, manufacturing technology and material quality. The metallurgical quality of deep groove ball bearing materials was once the main factor that affected the early failure of Timken bearing. With the development of Metallurgical Technology (such as vacuum degassing of bearing steel), the quality of raw materials has been improved. The proportion of raw material quality factor in bearing failure analysis has decreased obviously, but it is still one of the main factors affecting the failure of deep groove ball bearing. The proper selection of material is still a factor that must be considered in bearing failure analysis.
